Job Summary

When you first get involved with event setup, you might simply arrive the day of the event and help set up the site. You will be working under the exact directions of the event manager. You’ll unload trucks, put equipment in staging areas where it will be erected or assembled by more experienced setup people and act as a “go-fer” who runs errands for more senior staff. Typical setup activities include erecting structures for weddings and or corporate events, putting up the pipe and drape configuration that creates backdrops or room draping, carpet for stages or aisles, helping with lighting equipment, hanging signs, decor or props from the ceiling using magnets with long magnet pole, placing decorations on tables or stages. Lower-level setup people usually help take down events, taking inventory of all items and packing them so they are ready for easy use at the next event.
